PVH Golf Touranement Raises More than $18,000

More than 80 golfers were on the green during Penobscot Valley Hospital’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln. The event raised more than $18,000 which was nearly a 30% increase over the previous year. “We couldn’t be happier with the results,” says hospital spokesperson Allison Bankston. “We have some wonderful, consistent, sponsors, and this year, we had many new sponsors who joined the effort. We can’t thank everyone enough for all their help.”

All the money raised this year is going toward the purchase of new, special beds designed to prevent patient falls. Preventing falls has become a major initiative at hospitals around the country, including PVH.

The top sponsors at the Platinum Sponsorship Level this year were Unidine and Select Embroidery. Gold Sponsors included Berry, Dunn, McNeil, and Parker as well as Siemens. Silver Sponsors were Quirk Hyundai and CPSI. The Putting Contest was sponsored by three entities: Eastern Maine Healthcare Services, Barresi Benefits Group, and Dahl Chase Pathology Associates. The PVH Player Prizes were sponsored by TD Bank and Bangor Hydro/Emera, and Team Sponsors this year for the PVH tournament included: Mindray North America; Kelly, Remmel, & Zimmerman; Pizzagalli Construction Company; Quorum Health Resources; and JaTo Highlands.

Tee signs were purchased this year by:
    · Steaks N. Stuff, Inc.
    · Gillmor Farm Ice Cream
    · Canfield Systems, Inc.
    · Smart’s Hardware, Inc.
    · Neal Associates, LLC
    · DeLaite Trucking, Inc.
    · Dysart’s Service
    · CompHealth Locum Tenens
    · Whitten’s 2-Way
    · The Thomas Agency, Inc.

The tournament boasted three hole-in-one prizes including a golfing trip, an all terrain vehicle, and a Hyundai Sonata. Quirk Hyundai provided the car on the green at JaTo for players to see. No one won the hole-in-one prizes, but many folks walked away with great goody bag items and raffle prizes, including a $2,000 laptop from Dell. Other goods and donations were provided by:

    · Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield
    · Aubuchon Hardware
    · Bangor Metro
    · Bangor Savings Bank
    · Cape Neddick Country Club
    · Capello Hair Studio & Day Spa
    · Clay’s Funeral Home
    · Cobbossee Colony Golf Course
    · CWA & Lake Street Real Estate
    · High Performance Hair & Tanning
    · F.A. Peabody Real Estate
    · Fox Ridge Golf Course
    · Hannaford of Lincoln
    · Nonesuch River Golf Club
    · Possibilities
    · Sears
    · Select Embroidery
    · Storage Systems, Unlimited
    · Whitetail Golf Course.

The $200 team registration fee, which has remained the same for the last four years, included 18 holes of golf, a goody bag, a power cart, a free putting contest, and a BBQ dinner after the tournament prepared by the PVH Food Services Staff.

Bankston expressed her gratitude to Pattagumpus Village for printing the tournament’s tee signs this year. “We’d also especially like to thank the folks at JaTo Highlands for all their help on the day of the tournament and leading up to the event,” says Bankston. “We’re always very impressed at how much time and effort the JaTo team puts into our events to help make them successful.”
