| Three Nurses Receive Special Certification
January 15, 2008
Three registered nurses at Penobscot Valley Hospital have received their CNOR Certification. Sue Johnstone(left), Monica Vanadestine, and Melissa Pelkey (right) finished the certification for operating room nurses.
“PVH is hoping to provide more and more opportunities for our staff to further their education.” says Chief Nursing Officer Karen Mueller. “We’re excited to have so many highly qualified nurses and other professionals who take the initiative to improve their skills and help us provide the best patient care.”
The CNOR program enhances the knowledge & skill level of the perioperative nurse to demonstrate professional achievement in their practice. The exam is based on the “AORN Standard, Recommended Practices and Guidelines”. (AORN stands for the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses.) The certification process aims at making sure each nurse has an in-depth knowledge of these standards and an ability to interpret and apply them to a real work setting.
