| First PVH Golf Tournament Planned for JaTo
Golfers around the state are signing up for the 2007 Penobscot Valley Hospital Golf Tournament. The event is scheduled for Friday, August 24th at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln.
This is the first time the hospital has used a golf tournament as a major fund raiser. Spokesperson Allison Bankston says the competition has room for 35 teams of four or up to 144 players, and the cost for each team is $260. “Early birds can save $60 on registration by signing up before June 1st, plus, those who sign up before June will be eligible for prizes in a special drawing. Individual golfers can sign up for $60 each before June 1st and $75 after that.”
“JaTo is a great course,” says PVH CEO Dave Shannon. “I’m a golfer, and I really enjoy my time on the greens in Lincoln. The PVH family is looking forward to sharing those amazing views with golfers from all over the state, while we raise money for a great cause—your community hospital.”
The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf, a goody bag, a power cart, a free putting contest, and a BBQ dinner after the tournament. JaTo’s spectacular layout plays over rolling hills and through hardwood forests offering breathtaking views of Mt. Katahdin along with the surrounding lakes and hills. Some memorable prizes are at stake, too, through hole-in-one contests on three holes. Golfers will have the chance to win a new car, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and a trip to Myrtle Beach. Other prizes will be available for the low net, the low gross, men’s and women’s longest drive and closest pin, and most gross.
“PVH has made some significant strides in the last year,” says Bankston. “Soon, you’ll be hearing about our plans to improve patient rooms and enhance our Emergency Department, so this contest is just the beginning of a number of fun events designed to help the hospital improve its facilities and services.”
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the golf tournament, even if you choose not to golf. Local businesses are signing up to sponsor tee signs and other parts of the event. “Cole Whitney Ford was our first, big sponsor,” says Bankston. “They were kind enough to put up the vehicle for the hole-in-one contest. There’s still room for sponsorships from $50 to $1,500, or businesses can donate items for the goody bags.”
