Food Services

The PVH Cafeteria is managed by Chef Peter Merritt, who believes it's important to use the freshest and highest quality ingredients while focusing on proper nutrition and always providing healthy options. Chef Merritt is an avid musician who plays throughout the region. He's also a parti-time Firefighter/EMT for the town of Dedham.
Chef Merritt speaks very highly of the Food Services Staff. "They're a great group of people--extremely experienced and friendly, and as a department, we're committed to providing the highest level of customer service."
Most meals in the PVH cafeteria are around $3.00. Breakfast foods are made available by 7:30 a.m. Lunch is from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m., and dinner is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Visitors can request to eat with a patient in his or her room. If you would like to dine with a patient, please first visit the cafeteria and pay for your meal several hours in advance. Your meal will then be delivered along with the patient meal.
Food Services provides meals for patients each day at 7:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. PVH receives diet orders from the physicians through our computer system and then provides the correctly modified menus to the patients, so they can receive the proper nutrition. Our Food Services Department also provides snacks twice a day to patients at our facility.
Penobscot Valley Hospital is also making easy-to-reheat, healthy, frozen meals available to the community. It’s called the “PVH Meals to Go” program, and the hospital cafeteria’s goal is to provide inexpensive, healthy meals that are extremely affordable and easily transported to your home. The program is designed to help the elderly and those who might not otherwise be able to afford great-tasting, well-balanced meals. The microwavable, frozen single-servings cost just $3.25 each. They’re subject to availability and can be purchased at the PVH cafeteria during normal hours. The “Meals to Go” include a protein, starch, and vegetable.
