Gearing Up for the 5th Annual PVH Golf Tournament
 |
Golfers from all over the region are signing up for the 5th Annual Penobscot Valley Hospital Golf Tournament. The golf scramble is scheduled for a shotgun start at 12:30 pm on Friday, August 19 at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln.
This year’s contest is raising money for PVH’s Annual Fund 2011, and all the proceeds go toward new patient beds specially designed to improve safety. Spokesperson Kristie Libby says the competition has room for additional teams, and the cost is $70 a player or $260 for a team of four. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf, a goody bag, a golf cart, a free putting contest, and a BBQ dinner after the tournament. Prizes are awarded to the top three teams, as well as the top women’s team, closest to pin and longest drive.
The three hole-in-one prizes available include: 1) a golf trip to Myrtle Beach, 2) a four-wheeler, 3) and a 2011 Chrysler 200 Touring provided by Thornton Bros. The car will actually be at the golf course for players to see.
“The PVH Golf Tournament is one of the largest in the area offering three hole-in-one prizes and many other rewards for our golfers,” explains Libby. Last year’s tournament raised over $18,000 from cash and in-kind donations and staff at PVH are working hard to surpass that number.
Major sponsors of this year’s tournament include Select Embroidery, Unidine Corporation, Nurse Anesthesia of Maine, Katahdin Valley Health Center, Thornton Bros., Bangor Hydro Electric Company, Barresi Benefits Group, Comprehensive Pharmacy Services, Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates, and Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. Player Prizes have been sponsored this year by Kelly, Remmel & Zimmerman. Team prizes are sponsored by Gillmor Farms and Pattagumpus Village.
Other raffle and door prizes have donated by Bangor Savings Bank, Cobbossee Colony Golf Course, David Green, Dell, Fox Ridge Golf Club, Nonesuch River Golf Club, Spring Meadows Golf Club, Storage Systems Unlimited, Whitetail Golf Course, and Wing Wah. The PVH Auxiliary will be on hand selling raffle tickets to win a new laptop valued at over $1,500 donated by Dell.
There’s till time to sign up for the tournament. For more information, contact Kristie Libby at 794-7324. Registration and sponsorship forms are available at JaTo and at www.pvhme.org. |
