Girls Night Out: A Great Success
 |
On Saturday, November 5, hundreds of people gathered at the Mattanawcook Academy Cafeteria for the first Girls Night Out: Food, Fashion & Fun event put on by Avanti Bridal Salon, Penobscot Valley Hospital and the PVH Auxiliary. The main attraction was the fashion show featuring bridal gowns, bridesmaids and mother’s dresses, tuxedos, prom gowns, cruise wear and faux furs, all put on by Rheta Hickey at Avanti and nearly 30 models.
Major sponsors for the event included: Modern Woodmen of America; H. Joseph Thibodeau DMD Family Dentistry & Orthodontics; Judy McComb, Independent Beauty Consultant; and Cheryl Russell Independent Manager with lia sophia.
The evening out also included an hour for shopping with local vendors and snacking on the fine catering prepared by the PVH Food Services staff. Tim Horton’s provided the coffee for the evening. Students from the MA National Honor Society did an excellent job helping with vendor set up and food service.
The vendors had items for sale and donated a percentage of the evening’s proceeds to the PVH Annual Fund. The following vendors helped donate to this worthy cause: Angels and More, Capello Hair Studio & Day Spa, Do You Bake?, It Works!, Jewelry by Deb, Jonathan Douglas Massage, Label Shopper, lia sophia (Cheryl Russell), Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Loree’s Miche Bags, Misc Monique, Riverview Photography, Scentsy Wickless Products (Amy Renaud), Silpada Designs Jewelry (Gayle Stevens), Sister Stuff, TD Bank, The Pampered Chef (Mary-Beth Libby), Thirty-One (Marisa LeBlanc), and Transitions Hair & Tanning.
All the money raised at the Girls Night Out fashion show will go toward the 2011 Penobscot Valley Hospital Annual Fund to purchase specially designed beds that aid in the prevention of falls and lifting injuries.
“In all, we raised over $8,700 from the Girls Night Out fundraiser,” explains Kristie Libby, PVH Marketing & Fund Development Manager. “The hospital was overwhelmed by the support of our community at the fashion show. It was great to be part of such a fun, positive event.”
The group would like to thank the following locations for helping out with ticket sales: Alana’s Nail & Hair Care, Avanti Bridal Salon, Capello Hair Studio & Day Spa, High Performance, PVH Registration, and Transitions Hair & Tanning.
They would also like to thank all of the models for a job well done! Another thank you goes out to Black Bair Limo Service from Bangor for providing the VIP winner, Linda Round, with a ride to and from the event in a white stretch Lincoln limousine. Capello Hair Studio & Day Spa provided all the make up and hair styles for the models. Riverview Photography donated their time to photograph the event. Also a special thank you goes out to Ray Grindle, Master of Ceremonies. He volunteered all of his time and equipment for the weekend.
