Penobscot Valley Hospital staff, patients and the media celebrated the opening of the new Infusion Room with a ribbon cutting ceremony at PVH on Tuesday, September 13.
The hospital just recently finished renovations on the new patient Infusion Room. This new room provides a comfortable space for outpatients to receive medications and IV therapies.
“Often times, a patient will be well enough to return home, but still may need to have procedures administered by a professional,” explains Monica Vanadestine, RN, PVH Assistant Director of Inpatient Services. “Patients should talk with their physician to set up an appointment for the PVH Infusion Room where they can receive IV antibiotics, medication injections, port flushes, and chemo pump removal.”
While the services are not new to PVH, patients will now have the luxury to be treated in the private, healing ambiance of the Infusion Room. With a new flat screen television and special infusion chair, patients can recline and catch up on the news or other programs while their therapies are administered.
Amanda Dunn was the first patient to use the new Infusion Room two weeks ago and was on-hand to speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony. She stated, "This new Infusion Room means so much to us patients. PVH has demonstrated their care and commitment to us by providing a private, separate space from inpatients that allows us the privacy and comfort to receive our treatments. This new room illustrates to me how PVH is dedicated to caring for their patients."
Penobscot Valley Hospital would like to thank all the area businesses and staff who made the new Infusion Room possible for our patients.
