Orthopaedic Surgeon Joins Team at PVH
 |
 |

Penobscot Valley Hospital has a new surgeon who will be providing orthopaedic services in Lincoln. Dr. Philip H. Scaglione (pronounced with a silent “g”) is originally from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania - the town we all know for its famous groundhog, Phil. Most recently, Dr. Scaglione was practicing as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the South Georgia Orthopedic Group in Waycross, Georgia.
Dr. Scaglione completed his undergraduate work in Biology and a graduate degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, both at Boston University. He went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and then completed an internship and orthopaedic surgery residency program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Monday, March 12 was the surgeon’s first day on the job at PVH.
“I’m excited to make this transition to Lincoln, Maine,” says Scaglione. “My wife and I enjoy the outdoors and are excited to see the opportunities this area offers for hunting and fishing.” Dr. Scaglione has been married for 26 years to his wife, Molly O’Neill. Together they have two sons, Philip and Peter.
“PVH is very excited to have Dr. Scaglione on board as part of our team,” says CEO David A. Shannon. “The addition of orthopaedic services on a full time status will be a great asset to our community, allowing people in our area to receive treatment and recover close to home.”
Dr. Scaglione has 15 years of experience in the field and will be providing procedures including:
- Adult Trauma
- Arthroscopy
- Foot & Ankle Surgery
- Hand & Wrist Surgery
- Joint Replacements
- Pediatric Trauma
- Sports Medicine
The surgeon says he works hard to be as detailed as possible when speaking with patients before a procedure, providing information about what’s going to happen and discussing realistic recovery expectations. “Being open and honest is crucial in my practice,” says Dr. Scaglione. “I want patients to feel at ease and comfortable. Together, we can work to set up an individualized treatment plan that will create the best possible outcome.”
If you are interested in procedures available through Dr. Philip H. Scaglione at Penobscot Valley Hospital, please speak with your healthcare provider about a referral. For more information about surgical services at PVH, click here.
