Maine suffers an average of 3, fatal moose-vehicle collisions a year. A recent Maine Warden Service study over 5 years showed more than 300 people in Penobscot County and more than 1,000 in Aroostook County had been in moose-related accidents. Wardens recommend these tips to stay safe:

• Keep your speed down.
• Watch out for the animals (where you see one, there will be more).
• Wear your seatbelt.
• Use your highbeams; low beams often go right under a moose.
