| New Corridor Open at PVH
October 1, 2009
Penobscot Valley Hospital is finishing work on its new corridor which will redirect foot traffic in the building. The new hallway will allow people to travel from one end of the hospital to the other without walking through the Emergency Department.
The new corridor is now open, but work is still being done, including installing new equipment and signage. Later this fall, the hospital in Lincoln plans to hold a grand-opening celebration to highlight the new hallway, new features added within the hospital, and the new PVH helipad which is being utilized by LifeFlight of Maine. Having the helipad onsite will help cut an average of 28 minutes of transport time when critically ill or injured patients need to be taken to a secondary treatment site such as facilities in Bangor or Boston.
For now, the hospital is asking people to please follow the temporary signage and avoid walking through the Emergency Department corridor. This will help better preserve patient privacy.
Donations are still being accepted for the hospital’s Annual Fund 2009 which will go toward the Emergency Department renovations. If you would like to contribute, contact Allison Bankston at 794-7124.
