Lisa O'Connor Promoted to Lead New Division
 Lisa O’Connor, RN has been appointed the new director of the Cardiac and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department at Penobscot Valley Hospital. The new department is a combination of the formerly separate Cardiopulmonary and Cardiac Rehab Departments.
Just last week, the long time head of the former Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, April Fogg, retired after 21 years at PVH. Fogg is credited with cultivating the department into the successful program it is today. Now, combined with the former Cardiopulmonary Department, the new division is expected to be more efficient and offer more training to the staff.
“Both departments do rehabilitation, so the jobs and skills are similar,” says O’Connor. “Still the hospital offers varied services that will all continue under this new combined department.”
O’Connor says joining the divisions will mean more cross-training, which will lead to a more flexible appointment schedule. In general, O’Connor says it’s a natural fit. “The heart and lung work very closely together, so even though the people we serve are two distinct populations, a lot of the education is the same.”
The new Cardiac & Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department currently has five employees, and PVH is looking for an additional staff member—an RN with advanced cardiac life support experience. The position would be 24 hours a week or 3 eight-hour shifts. Anyone interested in joining the new department should contact PVH Human Resources at 794-3321.
