Penobscot Valley Hospital’s services include a 24-hour emergency department. An average of 700 emergency patients are evaluated and cared for each month by a multi-disciplinary team of emergency healthcare professionals. Registered professional nurses and medical providers are available in the PVH Emergency Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

While you're here, our providers are able to access your electronic medical record through software called T-Systems. T-Systems allows us to offer world-class technology to our ED physicians and nurses. Clinicians can instantly and securely access patients’ medical records which enables them to make faster, more informed treatment decisions at the point of care. Moreover, the availability of up-to-date documentation minimizes the risk of medical errors and enhances coordination and continuity of a patient’s care with other providers across our facility.
Following your visit, you may receive a phone call from our emergency department staff to see how you are doing at home. We'll ask if you have any questions or concerns with your medications, help you schedule follow-up appointments, and answer any other questions you might have. These follow-up phone calls are just another way PVH goes above and beyond to show our committment to your health.
